When Hubert Davis was named head men's basketball coach at the
University of North Carolina in April 2021, history had already
been made, as Davis became the program's first Black head coach.
But after two difficult seasons, it was hard to imagine how quickly
a new staff, a new playing style, and a new roster blending
established players with prominent transfers and talented freshmen
would be able to change the story-except within the fabled Smith
Center locker room and practice gyms, where photos of the New
Orleans Superdome helped players and staff focus on the possible.
In words and photos full of behind-the-scenes moments, this book
reveals how belief in the program's rich traditions and in one
another enabled the 2021-2022 Tar Heels to achieve what at times
seemed impossible, writing a thrilling new chapter in the story of
Carolina basketball. From Davis's remarkable work to build a new
staff and roster to the ups and downs of the conference season to
the amazing run through March to the pinnacle of the college game,
the story takes fans through one of the most dramatic years in
program history.
Winner of the Association of Educational Computing and Technology
(AECT) 2018 Design and Development Outstanding Book Award Educators
and researchers worldwide are confronted by a tantalizing challenge
- how should contemporary technologies be used to enhance learning?
This book provides a broad academic and teaching audience with an
integrated understanding of learning technology research, and how
it can be used to enhance the design of learning environments.
Whereas some books focus exclusively on research relating to
learning technology and others propose ways to use technology
effectively, this book synthesises research for the purpose of
informing best practice. After laying pedagogical, technological
and content foundations, it examines research relating to the
educational use of Web 2.0, social networking, mobile devices and
virtual worlds. Analysis across these contexts leaves readers with
a nuanced understanding of how technology-enhanced learning design
principles may (or may not) be abstracted across different learning
technology environments. Providing an integrated portrayal of
learning technology research enables educators (academics, school
teachers, pre-service teachers and educational designers) to
immediately adopt evidence-based approaches in their teaching. The
comprehensive synthesis of the literature also helps learning
technology researchers to more clearly identify the
interrelationships between different areas of learning technology
research, as well as position their work amongst the practical
problems of the field. Rich with examples, this book is suitable
for those who want to adopt a design-based and research-driven
approach to enhancing learning using technology.

"Only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly
will acquire the skills to do difficult things easily." --Thought
for the Day, March 22, 2005, Carolina practice plan
At the start of the 2005 season, the North Carolina Tar Heels were
a talented yet dysfunctional team made up of gifted yet unfocused
athletes. Head coach Roy Williams had his work cut out for him: to
piece the team back together and inspire the players to use their
adversity as the surest path to victory. On April 4, 2005, Carolina
defeated Illinois in the championship finals. "How else could it
have ended?" reflected forward Jawad Williams. "We've been the
lowest and now we're the highest."
Led By Their Dreams, a celebration of the Tar Heels' 2005 season,
features interviews with the players and coach Roy Williams. It
also includes Williams's famous inspirational quotes--his "Thoughts
for the Day"--which often foretold something about to happen and
always served to push the team toward better teamwork and,
ultimately, the NCAA championship.
With full-color photographs throughout, postseason notes, a list of
the honors and awards received by standout players, and a CD of the
radio call of the championship game, this is the ultimate book for
fans to remember the best team of 2005 and its return to
glory.
